Are you and your neighbours safe from fire?

Alert message sent 25/11/2021 11:31:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

Dear Coordinator
As you know, Neighbourhood Watch offers a number of ways for Coordinators to add skills and knowledge to enable us to provide even more security for our neighbours and our local communities.

I now have a new offer from Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service which I feel many of you will want to take advantage of: Improving safety from fire risk.

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service Prevention Team has put together a free training session called 'Fire Sense' to identify and reduce the risk of fire. They would welcome the opportunity to deliver this to NHW volunteers. The session usually lasts between 45 minutes to an hour - including time for a Q&A.
On this training you will:
Learn about Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and different ways in which we help protect the lives of the communities we serve.
Learn about who is at risk of fire in the home, and why
Learn to identify the warning signs of fire risk around the home
Understand how to take a person centred approach to fire risk assessment and how individual behaviour impacts on risk
Understand how we can work with the individual to reduce the risk in the home
Look at some real case studies to understand the risks, actions taken and how we worked to achieve real outcomes for the individual and the people working with them
Look at what can be learnt from some recent Safeguarding Adult Reviews and the role of capacity in fire safety planning
Ask us any questions you have about your role and our role in fire safety

If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please let me know. The session could be delivered online (probably via MS Teams), or in person at a meeting I would arrange. If you are interested, please also tell me if you have a preference on the delivery method. Naturally we are now talking about a potential date in the New Year.
I look forward to hearing from you,

Kind regards
