Appeal for witnesses following assault in Headington

Between 10.45 and 11am on Friday 30 July the victim, a 23-year-old woman, was walking along London Road, Headington with her son when she was approached by a man who was shouting and being aggressive. The man grabbed the victim and the buggy and then grabbed the victim’s hair. Members of the public who were passing at the time came to the aid of the victim.

The victim did not sustain any injuries.

The offender is described as a white man, approximately 6ft tall with dirty blonde hair and large build. He was wearing glasses, a grey tracksuit with a green hooded top and potentially has a tattoo on his arm.

Investigating officer PC Annie Jenkins, based at Oxford police station, said: “I am appealing to anybody who witnessed this incident to please come forward and contact police.

“I am particularly keen to hear from the members of the public who stopped to help the victim at the time  or anybody who may have CCTV or dash-cam footage from the area, or who recognises the description of the offender.

“If you have any information or witnessed the incident, please call the 24-hour non-emergency number 101 or make a report online, quoting reference 43210339737.

“Alternatively, for 100% anonymity, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
