Alert message sent 03/07/2021 13:18:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

PCSOs Dean, Hobson and Sansom have been out across the rural area today delivering posters to local shops, Community areas and Parish Councils to display in their villages.

One poster gave advice on Scams. This included the 3 steps of a Fraudulent phone call:

1 - A Fraudster telephones you claiming to be from your bank or the police. they tell you that your bank card details have been used fraudulently.

2 - they suggest that you hang up and ring the police/bank back to ensure that the call is genuine. DONT BE FOOLED - they stay on the line. They then tell you to read out or key in your PIN.

3 - They send a taxi/courier to you to collect your bank card. With this and your PIN, they spend your money.

JUST REMEMBER: YOUR BANK OR THE POLICE WILL NEVER ASK FOR YOUR PIN OR YOUR BANK CARD. DO NOT GIVE THEM TO ANYBODY.

The other poster included advice regarding gold thefts. Here is some advice on how to protect your gold jewellery:

Keep valuable property in a safe place.
Keep an inventory with photos and list items including make, model, description and value.

Don't put your items on display.

Make sure your home is secured and check your insurance.
