Catalytic Converter

Alert message sent 30/01/2021 11:01:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

Dear Coordinators,
I have received a discount offer from Selectamark of a police approved crime deterrent for catalytic converters.  The discount is time limited and will be more appropriate for organisations and businesses - unless you can get 100 members. If you know of anyone/ business etc. wanting 100 or more  then please let me know.

The good news is that I checked the site and they do individual CAT marking at £13.95 excl. VAT

Crime prevention tips
How to keep your car safe

Hello Maggie,

The value of the metals in catalytic converters has doubled over the last couple of years, with one of them now being priced four times higher than it was in 2018. This is making them an extremely attractive target for thieves, and since lockdown began there has been a 60% rise in catalytic converter theft.

Protect the catalytic converters in your area today by purchasing our specialist CAT Marking kits. They contain:
2 x heat resistant TESA security labels that are specially lasered with a unique code to allow a metal etching compound to be applied to the surface
Free lifetime registration on our Police and Insurance approved LPS1224 database, Secure Asset Register
2 x warning window stickers to make thieves aware that the catalytic converter has been permanently marked
Police kit management portal to monitor registration of kits, and registered addresses of marked vehicles
Additional outdoor warning signage is available
Bundle Offers
Pack of 100 CAT Marking Kits: £495.00, 15% off

Pack of 250 CAT Marking Kits: £987.50, 30% off

These prices do not include VAT or carriage cost.
Case Study: Kent Police and Tunbridge Wells Borough Council
Victims of catalytic converter theft in Tunbridge Wells are being provided with Selectamark security marking kits to help deter thieves from targeting their vehicles. An initiative involving Kent Police and Tunbridge Wells Borough Council has been supported by a local exhaust and tyre centre company, Freeway, who kindly offered to fit the kits free of charge.

The council has funded 100 specialist Selectamark CAT Marking kits, each of which contain a unique code and create a permanent mark on the metal surface of the catalytic converter. These codes are linked to a police database.

Since the initiative was launched, there has been a 100% reduction in catalytic converter theft from vehicles that have been marked.
