Alert message sent 04/09/2020 15:38:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an assault in Oxford.

It happened on the pavement between Oxford Railway Station and Saïd Business School on Park End Street at around 11pm on Friday 28/8.

Two men in their twenties were walking towards the train station when they were approached by a group of men who made homophobic remarks towards them.

One of the offenders went on to assault one of the victims by punching him, causing him to fall to the ground where he was repeatedly kicked and punched by the offenders.
The other victim tried to intervene and was also assaulted.

One of the victims suffered bruising and swelling to his face and other minor injuries but did not require any hospital treatment.

All the offenders were men, aged from late teens to early twenties, and one was riding a dark coloured mountain bike.

Investigating officer PC Zack Trigwell, based at Oxford police station, said: “I am appealing for any witnesses to this incident, or anyone who saw the group of men in the area at the time to please get in touch.

“If you have any information that might help our investigation, please call 101 or make a report online quoting reference 43200270270.

“Alternatively, if you wish to remain 100% anonymous you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
