9/7 Monday 4.20 a.m. Nash Gardens. The owner checked their CCTV and found footage of a man walking up to their car and trying a car door handle. As the car was locked, he walked away. The owner has footage from a few weeks ago showing exactly the same thing. If you have CCTV, please check it regularly to make sure no-one has attempted to break into your car ! If you have footage, please report it to us on the 101 number so that we can collect it to progress car crime in the area.

This morning I received a call, purporting to be from Barclaycard Fraud Department, asking to speak to me by name and saying that this was a courtesy call.
The caller went on to ask me for my date of birth. My response was - I never give my date of birth over the telephone to anyone and anyway, I had no way of knowing, if the caller was genuinely from Barclaycard.
At that point, the caller told me to call the number on the back of my Barclaycard, as soon as I was able to do so.
Later - after making sure the line was not being held by the scammer, I called Barclaycard who checked my account and told me that no-one from Barclaycard had called me.
Another scam ! Can you remind everyone to be on their guard - you never know who is on the other end of a phone ! In fact, you don’t even know which country they are in !

Well done Josephine. Never give out any personal information over the phone. The correct way to answer is simply - ‘Hello’ - even your name can confirm details for the scammer, they can follow up afterwards. Please remember, you have not been contacted personally. A computer, often in some other country, simply dials random sets of numbers - millions of them. The computer doesn’t know if they are telephone numbers, they are just random sets of say 9 digits. Occasionally it will hit on a real telephone number and you will receive a call. The computer immediately passes it over to a call centre who speaks to you, with a prepared script. Always, just put the phone down.
The lists are very valuable as it saves time in future if the computer knows, which are live numbers. Live numbers that just ring, sit in one database for future dialling. If someone picks up the phone, it immediately switches to another database a- a live responder. If you engage, it moves to another and most valuable database. A possible ‘mark’. You may not respond to this particular scam, but you may fall for another. These databases are sold on !
