RE: Brooklands Fen Street / Newport Road Signalised Junction s278 Highway Improvements Works
Please be advised that road improvement works will be commencing along Brooklands Fen Street / Newport Road New Signalised Junction. The works are being carried out by Smith Construction on behalf of Places for people as part of a Section 278 agreement. These works will comprise of a Road Closure and 3 way temporary traffic light system so a permanent traffic signal junction can be constructed as part of the Brooklands Phase 2 Infrastructure Development.
The program for these works gives a start date of 29th May 2018 and estimated completion date of 8th June 2018.
The road closure will be operation from the 29th May 2018 until 3rd June 2018 during the school half term.
The temporary signals will be operational from the 3rd June 2018 until 8th June 2018. The 3 way temporary traffic lights will be operational 24 hours and manually controlled Monday to Friday between the hours of 07:30-09:00 and 1530-1800.
As part of the road closure works traffic will be diverted the following routes.
- Northbound (From Newport Road/Countess Way Junction):
West along Countess Way; North along Warwick Avenue; East along Haven Street to junction with Fen Street; diversion end
- Southbound (From Fen Street/Haven Street Junction):
West along Haven Street; South along Warwick Avenue; East along Countess Way to junction with Newport Road; diversion end.
There is a bus stop on Newport Road which will be affected by the road closure. This will be temporarily relocated onto Warwick Avenue. The MKC bus stop department will be liaised with to ensure this is in place before any closure commences.
A plan showing the location of the works, diversion route and proposed temporary bus stop location have been attached.
