Appeal for witnesses following armed robbery in Reading

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery which took place in Reading.

The incident took place at Butts Convenience Store in Park Lane at about 8.30pm on 8/2.

A man entered the store and threatened staff with a hammer before demanding cash.

No cash was taken and he then fled the store towards School Lane.

It is believed that he may have then got into a dirty red car near to a bus stop in School Lane before driving along Chapel Hill.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Peter Cave, of Reading Force CID, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information relating to it.

“If you have any information which you think could help our investigation, please call the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number on 101.”
