Burglaries in Arborfield and Sun Lane Riseley

Alert message sent 09/05/2017 15:22:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Over the last few weekends we have had 4 burglaries in ARBORFIELD in the early hours of the morning.  The offender(s) got in through windows and doors which had been left open or unlocked.
Valon Road, Arborfield 8th May 02:21 – overnight on Monday someone attempted to break into a bungalow, the man was disturbed and ran off.  There had been a previous burglary in Valon road 21/22nd April when the offender reached in through an insecure window to then open a larger window.  2 purses and an Iphone have been stolen.
Venning Road, Arborfield 29-30th April  -  overnight a week ago someone broke into through an unlocked rear door and stole a laptop and headphones.
Hill Road, Arborfield 30th April 0130-1000 – last week someone broke into a house through a ground floor window which had been left open, searched inside but nothing stolen.
Sun Lane, Basingstoke Road, Riseley 8th May 02:25 – again overnight on Monday a resident could see someone outside their garage fiddling with the locks.
Remember – you control your own security:
  • If you are installing new doors and windows get ones that are certified to British Standard BS7950 (windows) or PAS 24-1 (DOORS).
  •  Fit window locks especially on older windows
  • Make sure you lock doors and windows when you leave the house – it’s easy to forget when you’re in a hurry but it’s the simplest way for a burglar to enter your home.  Lock it when you leave it!
