Bathurst Road, Winnersh 10/12th April – at sometime between Monday and Wednesday someone has broken into a parked car and stolen items left inside. A second car has been broken into (the car may have been left unlocked) and items left inside stolen including a bank card and someone has subsequently used this.
Sherwood Road, Winnersh 6/9th April – last week two outside ornamental lion figurines were stolen from a front driveway, they would have been very heavy to lift into a vehicle.
What can you do to prevent your car being broken into? Most vehicle crime is preventable, it can take as little as 10 seconds for a thief to steal something from your car, therefore remember the following:
Never leave items in your car, sunglasses, loose change, satnav – the thief will search through the glovebox and side pockets – we support the empty car campaign
Always close the windows, lock the doors and activate any security devices.Report anything or anyone suspicious immediately to the police on 101
Never leave items in the car or van whether valuable or not - it only encourages someone to break in and find out it's a paper bag!
Report anything or anyone suspicious immediately to the police on 101
