Crime Update Wednesday 12th April 2017 - Ascot

Alert message sent 12/04/2017 16:04:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

This message is dated Wednesday 12th April 2017 for Ascot.

Have a look below and see if you can guess what my Crime Prevention message is this week ????

Some people say that they do not lock their cars to prevent opportunist thieves smashing car windows / forcing car door locks to break in.

FINE

AS LONG AS YOU LEAVE NOTHING ON DISPLAY IN THE CAR TO MAKE IT A TARGET.

If our opportunist thieves find cars left unlocked in an area, as they walk along trying car door handles, with items left inside worth stealing; those cars, will act as a CRIME ATTRACTOR.  Once opportunist thieves find an area with easy pickings, news spreads amongst other thieves.  The news is – a community with lax security and little awareness – or – they have so much money and valuable possessions, they can afford just to replace them !

Once this message spreads amongst our criminal fraternity, you will be visited, not only by opportunist car thieves with a drug habit to feed, but opportunist burglars.  If people don’t bother to lock their cars and leave valuable items on display, or don’t bother to lock garages, they might be lax with their home security, leaving windows open, back doors unlocked, alarms not set !

YOU DO NOT WANT THESE PEOPLE VISITING ASCOT, TO SEE WHAT IS ON OFFER.

EVERYONE MUST PRESENT A UNITED FRONT – WE ARE CRIME SAVVY, KNOW ABOUT CRIME PREVENTION AND WILL PROTECT OUR HARD EARNED PROPERTY – NO EASY PICKINGS HERE !

GO ELSEWHERE !

PROTECT YOURSELVES, YOUR PROPERTY AND YOUR COMMUNITY !

An essential part of my role is to build Community Resilience, to ensure scarce police resources are used, where they are most needed !

We all need to take better care of our property !
