It was addressed to ‘undisclosed-recipient’ re Foreign Debt Payment Office, Washington DC.
The sender works – apparently – for HSB bank and a transfer to Bill has been blocked pending investigation. If he completes various documents ….. they will release the cash to him !!!
The amount ? $459.000
This deal must be kept secret forever, and all correspondence will be strictly by email / telephone, for security purposes. 3rd parties must not be involved or they won’t be able to send the money !!!
The sender will keep $59,000 as his share of revealing this transaction – Bill’s share will be $400,000 !!!
What they need of course……..is Bill’s bank details in order to transfer the cash !!
DON’T DO IT !
NEXT from Karen:
She has an email from ‘PayPal’ re an ‘Unexpected sign in’.
They will close her account….unless she verifies her details !!!
DON’T DO IT !
NEXT: From Roger.
Roger has received a ‘Gold Letter’ !
Apparently one of their clients passed away in 2008 and they have been trying to trace his relations and family…….Are you aware of a ‘Mr. Robert Panton’ who died in Hong Kong leaving ………………..250 kilos of solid gold and several business interests in both China and Hong kong.
If they don’t find relatives to pass the bullion over to within 8 years of the death, it will be forfeit to the government !
If Roger knows of a Mr Panton can he make contact immediately, so that they can arrange the transfer of assets !
DON’T DO IT !
NEXT: Sheena has copied me into a brilliant email she sent to a Charity, complaining about them cold calling and asking her to sign a standing order !
Exactly This is the message I keep going on about – you cannot fill out a standing order / direct debit and hand it to a complete stranger who cold calls at your door. Ignore any form of ID as you have no idea what they should look like. If it is a charity you want to support, please visit one of the many charity shops in the town centre or make your own arrangements !
Sheena has now had a response from the Charity concerned:
‘We can confirm that Fundraisers were working in Horton in SL3’.
‘In accordance with the Fundraising Regulator guidance, our fundraisers are allowed to knock between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.. However, our agency fundraisers knock on doors until 8.30 p.m. and then between 8.30 a.m. and 9 p.m. will knock by appointment only. This necessary in order to reach people when they are home from work’.
‘We use door to door fundraising because it is an effective method of recruiting new signatures and spreading awareness of the important work of the hospital and charity. We completely understand that some people do not like to be approached at their door, so please accept our apologies for having disturbed your household………….’
All well and good, but they do not respond to the issue of asking people to sign Direct Debits / standing orders and revealing their personal bank details to a stranger, which is the real problems !
NEXT: A request for assistance from MeKaya:
I wonder if you could help me.
I am looking for 5-10 volunteers to assist us with the Berkshire School Game on Wednesday 22nd March at Bisham Abbey.
The competition sees around 1,500 school children compete in the County finals in 10 sports, at the Sports Centre. I am desperately looking for some support on the day.
Most of the roles are generic, so no need for experience or expertise.
Would it be possible to share this opportunity with the database of volunteers you have ?
